This exhibition will celebrate the 40th anniversary of Abilene Ballet Theatre’s stage production of The Nutcracker, highlighting its history, performances, costumes, set pieces, and the efforts of the many individuals who have worked hard to pull it all together.

This exhibition explores the many ways in which animals fascinate and frighten us with their grace, humor, strength and mystery through art. The artists and the animals that are part of this exhibition challenge us to examine our involvement in the lives of animals in the wild, at home, at play and at work.  They also remind us to be mindful of the animal kingdom and the planet we all share.

Emily LaCour an artist tenaciously dedicated to painting. Through the fluidity of her painted relationships and dreamlike environments, she communicates the felt dynamics of relationships that transcend particular spaces. Influenced by her own relationships as part of a family unit and a new mother, she transcribes her personal and observed experiences into paralleling narratives. The image transforms as she works. Figures are often painted in and out, and the narrative shifts like a lucid dream. Her dissolution and search of boundaries between figures and the figure to their environment comes by a physical process of pushing, pulling, drawing, and carving into oil.

This annual juried art competition offers every Advanced Placement (AP) Studio Art student in Abilene ISD an opportunity to have artwork selected for a museum exhibition and to compete for valuable college scholarships. The exhibition is a collaborative effort by AEF, Abilene ISD, and The Grace Museum.

Emergence: Transformation Through Glass and Light will feature 20 large glass installations created by Dallas glass artist, Carlyn Ray, with suspension and interactive elements to surprise and delight each visitor. Through this body of work, Ray explores the immersive potential of art; how light, color and form can evoke emotion and foster deeper connection. She invites viewers to move beyond observation into feeling, allowing each piece to become a portal for reflection and inner exploration.

Self-taught and inspired by the colorful world of her imagination, memories, and environment, Cindi Holt’s interiors and landscapes are presented as a rich, colorful visual experience. Her intuitive approach to painting creates carefully delineated and curiously compressed scenes that are both captivating and enchanting.

This exhibition features an array of black-and-white and color selections from The Grace Museum’s permanent photography collection, including new acquisitions.

Gail Norfleet’s recent travels to Morocco and New Mexico are the subject of recent multi-dimensional paintings featured this solo exhibition. Her vividly colored “fields” of flowers and layered architectural motifs reveal Norfleet’s love of nature and exotic locales. Also highlighted are monoprints from her early career as a printmaker.

This exhibition demonstrates the wide variety of outstanding drawings, watercolors, lithographs, serigraphs, etchings, and mixed media compositions from The Grace Museum’s permanent art collection.

This exhibition features the 10 important works of art purchased by members of the 2025 Collectors Circle for The Grace Museum’s permanent collection. Artists represented include Barnaby Fitzgerald, Scott Gentling, Letitia Huckaby, Florence McClung, Scooter Orsburn, Robert Peterson, Allison V. Smith, Chaco Terada, Elizabeth Walmsey, and Molly Wood.
