Life and Legacy of Maxine Perini

For over six decades, Maxine Perini was instrumental in advancing the arts, local history, and the work of nonprofits. She served as example of women in leadership roles, and she worked to improve her hometown of Abilene.

Maxine Walker Perini was born on November 6, 1911 in Houston, Texas. Her family moved to Chicago, where she went to school. She attended Wellesley College for a few years and later graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago.
