Grace continues 4th Friday history talks May 23

Abilene, TX (May 12, 2008) - The Grace Museum continues its spring series of history talks, designed to explore topics of Texas history, May 23.

The final 2008 "4th Friday" lecture begins at 10:30 a.m., and will feature Dr. Rob Fink, Visiting Assistant Professor of History at McMurry University.

This lecture will be an informative look at the history of football at Texas' historically black colleges. Fink will examine state and national cultural as well as political trends throughout the 20th century, and show how football existed as a part of these movements. Through a close examination of the relationship between the Texas African-American community and black college football, the history of African-Americans in Texas and America becomes clearer.

Fourth Friday lectures are held in The Grace's 3rd floor Education Center, and are free for museum members; $3 for non-members.

The Grace Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday; and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. every Thursday. Admission is free Thursday evening after 5 p.m.
